What was Good about Good Friday?

It is an interesting concept to think that we can celebrate and suggest a day was GOOD when someone was:

Falsely accused, beaten, tortured, mocked, spat upon and then condemned to death; and yet for the Christian as a result of Jesus dying at Calvary more than Good is experienced.

It was necessary for Jesus to come into this world. “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” (1 Tim ch 1 v 15)

Whether we like the message or not, the message is still true, we are sinners in God’s sight and as a result we will face God’s judgement in a coming day.

But what happened at Easter time, is that Jesus allowed himself to be taken by the Jewish religious leaders who should have known better, who then condemned him to death. Ultimately the religious rulers didn’t like the message of God, they wanted to do their own thing? We don’t like to be told what to do, we definitely don’t like to be told that we are wrong, but the Bible is telling us that our ways end in death and destruction and we need to turn to God.

Jesus dying at Calvary was to pay the price for our sins, the wrong things that we do. Due to God being Holy, He can’t turn a blind eye to sin and therefore required a sacrifice and sin to be punished. Jesus the eternal Son of God was perfect and therefore could be the sacrifice for sin.

This is what is GOOD about Easter, you and I can know the forgiveness of our sins due to Jesus dying on the cross at Calvary.

The Bible tells us to “repent of our sin” to “believe in our heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

Don’t search for Easter Eggs this Eastertime, don’t search at an empty cross or even at an empty tomb, search for the Saviour the Lord Jesus.

“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while He is near:” (Isaiah ch 55 v 6)

May you find the Lord of Life this Easter time.
